Taking advantage of the sweeping views and natural barrier between the Hudson and Hackensack rivers, Palisades Interstate Park in Bergen County, New Jersey, offers 2,500 acres of nature’s Hudson River shorefront, uplands, and cliffs for hiking, skiing, and challenging rock scrambles. Picnic on the waterfront, ride a bike on the paved, challenging paths, or canoe the wide and tidal Hudson River.

If shopping and dining are more your speed, don’t miss the “Miracle Mile” of Hudson County, Bergenline Avenue. This stretch of locally owned stores and authentic restaurants, from Union City to North Bergen, also hosts cultural events such as the Dominican-American Parade and the New Jersey Cuban Day Parade.

• If traveling from the north, take 91st street to Bergenwood Avenue and merge onto Kennedy Boulevard.
• If traveling from the south, take Kennedy Boulevard.
• If traveling from the west, take Fairview Avenue to Kennedy Boulevard.
• If traveling from the east, take West Side Street to 69th through 88th Street, then turn onto Kennedy Boulevard heading north.

Note: If you are using a ride-share service such as Uber or Lyft, ask the driver to drop you off or wait on Bergenwood Avenue, not Kennedy Boulevard.

Meet Dr. Ruth

Dr. Gregory D. Ruth, MD, DABVLM, RPVI, RVT is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disorders. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and is a certified Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT).

After earning his medical degree at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Dr. Ruth completed his general surgery residency with Michigan State University. Dr. Ruth then went on to perform advanced fellowship training in medical devices at the University of Minnesota.

Symptoms of vein problems

When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can be a sign of venous disease. The results can be the following:

Vein treatment options

Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.

Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.

Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our outpatient vein treatments require only local anesthetics. Recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
