More About Dr. Soto
Today, you will be seen by Dr. Theresa M. Soto. Dr. Soto was born and raised in upstate New York with three younger brothers; she is married with two grown children. Dr. Soto attended St. Bonaventure University in Alleghany, New York (just south of Buffalo) and graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation she was awarded an Air Force Scholarship for medical school and attended SUNY Buffalo Medical School as a Lieutenant. Graduating with honors from medical school, she was selected to complete her OB/GYN residency in Buffalo, New York at the Buffalo Children’s Hospital.
Her first assignment as a Captain in the Air Force took her to Texas during the time of Desert Storm. While in Texas she served as interim chairman of her department and orchestrated a program for diagnosis, treatment and follow up of cervical dysplasia. She was instrumental in establishing a program of follow-up that allowed women in the nuclear weapons program to participate in deployments without fear of being grounded due to medical restrictions. eeShe assisted in the planning of mass casualty drills that involved the local first responders and earned a marksman ribbon while thoroughly enjoying the Texas sun. Dr. Soto remained in the Air Force reserve for several years before she resigned her commission as a Major and moved to northern Virginia to raise her family.
Dr. Soto began working in the northern Virginia area in 1999, where she practiced OB/GYN in Fairfax County until 2013. Throughout residency and private practice, she has been an instructor of students, residents, and physician assistants; she has been a mentor for the Physician Assistant Program at The George Washington University. It is her experience with pelvic pain, pelvic surgery and varicose vein disease during & after pregnancy that brought her to specialize in the management of venous disease in her patients.
Dr. Soto is Director of Clinical Affairs for Center for Vein Restoration where she heads the Quality Assurance Program and is a regular presenter at the Annual Center for Vein Restoration National Meeting. She is also an Associate Director of the ABVLM Fellowship Program at Center for Vein Restoration where she participates in the training of new Venous and Lymphatic Medicine specialists. She holds privileges at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
