Vein Treatments Personalized Just for You

While each individual's experience with vein disease may vary, they commonly share one condition: chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). CVI occurs when your leg veins don’t allow blood to flow back up to your heart. The result is symptoms such as leg pain, varicose veins, spider veins, restless legs, cramps, skin changes, leg and foot swelling, leg ulcers, blood clots, and other leg discomfort.

CVR is here to help. Call us at (240) 965-3915 to learn more.

What are varicose veins?

Because they can cause pain and discomfort on almost any part of the leg, varicose veins can be debilitating if not properly treated.

Symptoms of varicose veins include:
• Leg pain, aching, or cramping
• Fatigued or heavy-feeling legs
• Itching and burning
• Swollen ankles and feet
• Restless legs
• Leg ulcers
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

What are spider veins?

Seeing tiny red, blue, or purple blood vessels that look like a spider web just below the skin of your legs? These could be spider veins. Caused by damaged blood vessels, spider veins are especially bothersome after standing for long periods of time.

Symptoms of spider veins include:
Itching, aching, or burning
• Unsightly appearance
• Leg soreness
• Skin discoloration around visible veins

What is deep vein thrombosis (DVT)?

DVT is a serious condition characterized by a blood clot in a deep vein, typically in the legs, thighs, or pelvis. It's important to recognize the signs and symptoms of DVT, such as leg pain, swelling, warm, red, or discolored skin. If you suspect DVT, seek medical attention immediately.

Treatment Options for Varicose Veins and Spider Veins

Treatment options for varicose veins and spider veins range from self-care measures and wearing compression stockings to office-based surgical procedures. Your board-certified Center for Vein Restoration specialist customizes a treatment plan that is right for you. All procedures are performed as an outpatient in the vein clinic. Local anesthetic is used to numb the leg. Patients are awake but will not feel pain.

Non-Thermal Techniques

Non-thermal vein treatments like VenaSeal offer effective, minimally invasive alternatives to heat-based methods.

VenaSeal

A thin catheter delivers medical glue to the vein’s interior, which seals the vein shut and helps direct blood into other healthier vessels.

Visual Sclerotherapy

For spider veins close to the skin’s surface. A sclerosant medicine is injected into the veins to help veins close and be reabsorbed into the body.

Foam Sclerotherapy

A minimally invasive, office-based procedure, foam sclerotherapy involves creating a foam-like mixture of a sclerosing agent and air or gas. This foam has a thicker consistency than liquid (as used in traditional liquid sclerotherapy), allowing it to displace blood more effectively within the vein and come into more significant contact with the vein walls.
