Dr. Harthun earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.She completed a Master of Science degree in clinical research from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. She trained in general and vascular surgery at the University of Virginia, obtaining board certification from the American Board of Surgery. She completed an endovascular fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

She is a distinguished Fellow of the Society of Vascular Surgery and a Visiting Professor of the Association of Women Surgeons. She earned her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT, and a master’s degree in clinical research (magna cum laude) from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA.
