Varicose veins are a common problem that affect both men and women. In the past, treatment for these bulging, twisting veins entailed surgical procedures that required an extended recovery period and significant scarring. The good news is those procedure have become largely obsolete today, as minimally-invasive procedures have taken the place of surgical options. Now you have many choices to eliminate varicose veins without residual scarring, giving you superb cosmetic results.

No-Scar Varicose Vein Treatments

At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer the following varicose vein treatments that leave little or no scarring behind:

Sclerotherapy

This injectable treatment is typically recommended for spider veins and smaller varicose veins. The procedure involves injections of a sclerosing agent directly into the affected veins, which causes them to seal shut and fade from view. Because the needle tip is the only thing that penetrates the skin, there is no residual scarring from this procedure. In addition, patients are able to return to regular activities immediately following treatment, which makes sclerotherapy one of the quickest, easiest ways to eliminate spider and varicose veins today.

Laser Therapy

Endovenous laser treatment or EVLT delivers focused laser energy directly into affected veins. This procedure can be used on larger varicose veins, making it a good alternative when sclerotherapy is not an option. The laser energy is administered via a micro-incision and very narrow catheter. The incisions are too small to even require stitches after the procedure and visible scarring is nearly non-existent. This procedure also allows patients to return to regular activities quickly, often the day after treatment.

RF Vein Ablation

Radiofrequency energy has replaced laser energy for many patients today. RF vein ablation works in a similar fashion to laser therapy, heating the vessel from the inside so the vein collapses and is eventually reabsorbed by the body. RF ablation may lead to fewer side effects than EVLT, although both procedures are considered both safe and effective. Like EVLT, the catheter used to administer the RF energy is very small, so incisions in the leg are minimal. Most patients do not have any visible scarring once they heal from this procedure.

We also offer ambulatory phlebectomy at Center for Vein Restoration, which is typically reserved for large varicose veins that bulge and twist above the skin’s surface. This procedure involves a series of small incisions along the length of the vein, which allow for the insertion of a small tool that removes the vein from the leg in small sections. While there can be a small amount of scarring with this procedure, it is typically much less than with traditional vein surgery. In addition, the recovery period after ambulatory phlebectomy is also significantly shorter.

Vein treatments today do not involve discomfort, downtime or scarring of surgical procedures performed in the past. If you would like to learn more about your options in varicose vein treatment, contact Center for Vein Restoration.
