At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility known as a vascular lab. At our lab, we can screen patients for a wide range of potential problems within the vascular system. Through non-invasive examinations, we can determine a patient’s risk for serious problems like stroke and pulmonary embolism. A vascular lab is an important tool for screening patients for serious conditions while the condition is still in the early stage and easy to treat.

How do We Test?

There are a number of ways to screen for potential problems with the vascular system. We offer the following diagnostic options at Center for Vein Restoration:

Doppler ultrasound to examine blood flow through vessels
Duplex ultrasound to see the structure of the vessels

Both of these tests are non-invasive and provide ample information about potential vascular problems. In many cases, problems are detected early, when preventative or non-invasive treatment options may be effectively used. For example, some conditions may be managed with an oral medication to prevent more serious complications from developing.

What do We Test For?

The most common screening performed at Center for Vein Restoration is used to detect deep vein thrombosis or DVT. This condition is characterized by the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein of the body, often in a leg. If the clot, or a portion of the clot, breaks free from its original position, it can travel through the bloodstream to other areas of the body.

DVT often presents without any symptoms, so patients may not know they have the condition until a problem arises. DVT can lead to a pulmonary embolism if the clot travels to the lungs, a life-threatening condition that requires emergency medical treatment. However, if DVT is detected early, medication or a surgical procedure can be used to prevent the clot from moving into the lungs or other areas of the body.

Other potentials risks detected through our screenings include but are not limited to:

Cardiovascular disease and congestive heart failure
Heart attack and stroke
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
High cholesterol or blood pressure
Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Carotid artery disease
Other types of vascular and arterial diseases

Why Center for Vein Restoration?

While many vascular centers may advertise screening services, it is important to choose a center that provides quality, rather than quantity. Our vascular lab is IVACL accredited, which ensures the highest quality of patient care. In addition, all of our technicians are full RVTs (registered vascular technicians) to provide patients the best possible experience and training.
