FEBRUARY 5, 2020, GREENBELT, MD: Center for Vein Restoration (CVR), the national leader in treating varicose and spider veins, has announced a new partnership with Dr. Marlin W. Schul. Dr. Schul is the Lead Physician and Medical Director at our Dothan, Alabama location – which was originally started under previous CVR physician Dr. Kenneth Todd.

Dr. Schul is board-certified in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He has been diagnosing and treating varicose veins, spider veins, leg ulcers, blood clots, and unexplained swelling since 2002. He is also the immediate past President of the American Venous & Lymphatic Society (AVLS).

In addition to his impressive history with AVLS, Dr. Schul is a part of many other professional organizations including: VEIN Magazine (where he is the Medical Director & Advisor), Foundation for Venous & Lymphatic Disorders (current chair), Indiana State Medical Association, and Tippecanoe County Medical Society.

Among some of his achievements: Dr. Schul has published 19 peer-reviewed publications and given scores of scientific presentations; has won numerous awards in his field; was the Principal Investigator on more than a dozen Phase II, III, and IV clinical trials; and was the Lead Developer of National Outcomes Database for Vein Care.

Dr. Schul explained why this profession is so important to him, “My passion for my work is seeing how much better patients feel after helping them. So many people cannot believe how much better they feel with ANY treatment we provide. We are so blessed to be in Dothan and helping those in need.”

Center for Vein Restoration is excited to bring on Dr. Schul to the team of over 70 physicians.

“Dr. Schul is a reputable authority in the vein industry. As the most immediate past president of the American Vein & Lymphatic Society, he is no stranger to venous disease, and we are very familiar with his outstanding work and background,” said Dr. Sanjiv Lakhanpal, CEO & President of CVR. “I know he is going to be a great addition to our stellar team, and we are excited to see all that he has to offer Center for Vein Restoration,” he concluded.

Venous insufficiency, the cause of significant suffering due to the sequelae of venous hypertension, most commonly arises as achy, tired and heavy legs. It may or may not be associated with varicose veins, spider veins or skin changes including venous ulcerations and indiscriminately affects between 30–40 million Americans. Numerous factors including age, weight, prolonged sitting or standing, genetics or a history of DVT (blood clots) can increase the risk of developing this common and often underdiagnosed disorder. Treatment options have evolved to an array of minimally invasive procedures in an office setting.

Center for Vein Restoration (CVR) is the largest physician-led practice treating vein disease in the country. Having performed its first procedure in 2007 under President and CEO Dr. Sanjiv Lakhanpal, Center for Vein Restoration has since become nationally recognized as the clinical leader in treating chronic venous insufficiency. With 100 centers and growing, CVR has over 500 employees and conducts over 200,000 patient interactions annually. To learn more about CVR and its mission, visit or by phone at 240-965-3915.
