Dr. Shah’s Specialties

He has considerable hospitalist and critical care medicine experience with a proficiency in venous procedures utilizing ultrasound techniques, having performed thousands of venous procedures. These include:

  • Radiofrequency and laser ablation In both procedures, a thin catheter is gently inserted into the vein through the skin through which heat is emitted, closing the affected vein. The closed vein is reabsorbed into the body, and the blood finds a new path through healthier veins.
  • Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy A needle is placed into the damaged vein via ultrasonography guidance. Then, a medicine called a sclerosant is injected into the vein, resulting in the closure of the damaged vein. Blood naturally reroutes to healthier veins.
  • Varithena Varithena is the trade name for polidocanol injectable foam, the sclerosing agent used to treat varicose veins. The agent collapses the damaged vein, forcing the blood to reroute to healthier veins.
  • VenaSeal VenaSeal is a revolutionary closure system that uses a proprietary medical adhesive to close off varicose veins. This safe and effective treatment option may be recommended as an alternative to radiofrequency and laser procedures.
