Meet Dr. Kumar
Seema Kumar, MD, MPP, is board certified in venous and lymphatic disease and specializes in minimally invasive treatment for patients with superficial venous insufficiency. While practicing internal medicine in Alexandria, Virginia, she became interested in venous insufficiency as a subspecialty and since 2007 has practiced exclusively as a venous disease specialist. She received the inspiration to pursue a medical career from her mother, a physician and made Virginia her home in 1995.
After receiving an Honors BSc from the University of Michigan with a neurobiology major, Dr. Kumar graduated from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. An internal medicine residency at the Georgetown University Medical Center followed. While completing a primary care fellowship there, she also earned a master’s degree in public policy from the Georgetown Public Policy Institute.
Dr. Kumar has 19 years of medical experience. She has written publications on a variety of health topics such as patient satisfaction metrics and preventive medicine. While she was an internist in Alexandria, Consumer’s Checkbook named her a Top Doc. Prior to joining the Center for Vein Restoration, she achieved Diplomat status awarded by the American College of Phlebology.
