Meet Dr. Hafizi
Ghazaleh Gigi Hafizi, MD, FACOG, earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC. She completed her residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA, and a fellowship at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Washington, DC. After being in private practice for over 20 years, her interest in minimally invasive surgical treatment for chronic venous disease grew, and she took up training with the industry leaders in venous care, Center for Vein Restoration, where she has been treating patients ever since. She enjoys practicing vein care because she can positively impact the lives of patients of all ages and both sexes.
Dr. Hafizi takes pride in building a relationship with her patients so that she can stabilize their care and manage their chronic venous condition. She chooses to practice at CVR specifically, citing CVR’s status, nationally and internationally, for research, training, and using cutting-edge technologies in modern outpatient facilities.
“I feel that patient care requires listening to the patient and giving them adequate, kind care that emphasizes communication and educating them so they know what to expect.”
Dr. Hafizi speaks English, French, and Farsi.
Meet Dr. Kumar
Seema Kumar, MD, MPP, is board-certified in venous and lymphatic disease and specializes in minimally invasive treatment for patients with superficial venous insufficiency. While practicing internal medicine in Alexandria, Virginia, she became interested in venous insufficiency as a subspecialty and, since 2007, has practiced exclusively as a venous disease specialist. She received the inspiration to pursue a medical career from her mother, a physician and made Virginia her home in 1995.
Dr. Kumar speaks English, Arabic, and Hindu.
Dr. Kumar has two decades of medical experience. She has written publications on various health topics, such as patient satisfaction metrics and preventive medicine. While she was an internist in Alexandria, Consumer’s Checkbook named her a Top Doc. Prior to joining the Center for Vein Restoration, she achieved Diplomate status awarded by the American Vein & Lymphatic Society (formally the College of Phlebology).

Our board-certified vascular surgeons offer a wide range of innovative treatment options for leg pain, swelling, cramping, itching, varicose veins, spider veins, restless leg syndrome, ulcers, and other symptoms of vascular disease.
Symptoms of vein problems
When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can be a sign of venous disease. The result can be:
Feelings of heaviness
These symptoms are often the result of venous insufficiency and are unlikely to heal on their own. This common vein condition is progressive and will likely worsen without treatment.
Vein treatment options
Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.
Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.
At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a wide variety of other treatment options, including:
Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our outpatient vein treatments require only local anesthetics. Recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
