After a distinguished career performing complex thoracic, cardiovascular, and general surgeries, Dr. Gurmendi transitioned his expertise to vein care, where he combines his advanced surgical skills with a renewed focus on improving patients' quality of life through minimally invasive, evidence-based outpatient venous treatments.

With more than three decades as a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Gurmendi has witnessed firsthand how venous disease, often undertreated or overlooked, can dramatically affect patients’ lives. He has long incorporated vein care into his surgical practice, particularly in wound care settings for patients with venous stasis ulcers. Witnessing patients heal and regain their quality of life inspired him to dedicate his next chapter to vein medicine.
A proud husband of over three decades and father of three accomplished children: a pediatric dental specialist, a neuroscience researcher, and a Harvard Business School graduate, Dr. Gurmendi brings the same dedication to his patients as he does to his family.
Outside of medicine, he and his wife enjoy hiking the stunning landscapes of New Mexico, a state they have proudly made their home.
