Soohyun Kim
MD, RVT

After years of performing vascular surgery, Soohyun Kim, MD, RVT, found her true passion being venous care. Places to See

Officially recognized in 1868 and incorporated in 1881, Phoenix has become a major American city. On four separate occasions since the 1950s, the National Civic League has been named the capital of Arizona an "All-America City." As the fifth-largest city in the U.S., it's no surprise that over 1.4 million people call Phoenix home. It’s ideal for nature lovers, hikers, and bikers, with over 41,000 acres of desert parks, mountain preserves, and more than 200 miles of trails.

Among its many iconic attractions is the Phoenix Zoo, one of the largest non-profit zoos in the U.S. and the only zoo in the Valley accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It features over 3,000 animals and a variety of exhibits that highlight different habitats, from African savannas to desert landscapes. Guests can enjoy interactive experiences such as giraffe feeding, as well as themed programs designed to educate and inspire. About 22 miles from our vein clinic, the Phoenix Zoo is committed to conservation efforts and sustainability, supporting both local and global wildlife conservation initiatives.

The city is also home to the Phoenix Center for the Arts, a cultural hub dedicated to arts education and community engagement through dynamic classes, workshops, and live events. It features specialized studios and performance spaces and hosts events such as the Phoenix Festival of the Arts to celebrate local talent and creativity. By fostering artistic expression and collaboration, the center plays a pivotal role in enhancing the region’s cultural landscape and improving arts accessibility and involvement in the community.

Cultural and artistic expression flourish at the Shemer Art Center, nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain in one of the area’s very first homes. The center serves as a vibrant venue for local artists to display their work while offering guests ongoing opportunities for education and engagement through art classes, gallery exhibitions, and other events that foster creativity and appreciation for visual arts. The Shemer Art Center was even named “One of the 10 Best Museums in Phoenix” by USA Today and “One of Phoenix’s Ten Best Kept Secrets” by The Culture Trip.

Musicians around the world will marvel at the massive collection of instruments featured at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), which opened in 2010. The MIM showcases over 7,500 instruments from nearly 200 countries while celebrating each one’s distinct sound and cultural significance. Guests can also enjoy live performances at the MIM’s 300-seat theater and participate in educational programs designed to enrich the area’s understanding of and appreciation for all things music, as evidenced by its motto: music is the language of the soul. Pearl Jam lead vocalist and guitarist Eddie Vedder describes the MIM as “one of the greatest museums not just in the country but on the planet.”

Remember to explore the wondrous Phoenix outdoors—South Mountain Park and Preserve is one of the largest municipal parks in the U.S., covering over 16,000 acres of desert landscapes and rugged, mountainous terrain. The park provides more than 58 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, along with areas perfect for scenic drives and lookout points that offer stunning views of the city. South Mountain Park and Preserve’s rich cultural history, including its ancient petroglyphs and educational programs, makes it a cherished destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Whether visiting from near or far, Phoenix’s variety of unique destinations provides something for everyone, including outdoor adventures, cultural enrichment, family fun, and unforgettable experiences.

Symptoms of Vein Problems

When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can be a sign of venous disease.

The result can be:

These symptoms are often the result of venous insufficiency and are unlikely to heal on their own. This common vein condition is progressive, meaning it will get worse without treatment.

Vein Treatment Options

Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.

Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.

At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a wide variety of other treatment options, including:

Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our in-office treatment requires only local anesthetics and recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
