Meet Dr. Robert Fried

An experienced cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Robert Fried, turned his professional focus to diagnosing and treating venous and lymphatic disease. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Montefiore-Albert Einstein Hospital, Bronx, NY, and fellowships at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, New York, NY, and Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center, New York, NY.

Dr. Fried is a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Describing himself as a "people person" who strives for good patient outcomes and a good patient experience, Dr. Fried takes a whole-patient approach to healthcare, addressing the root of the patient's concerns and not just the patient's presenting symptoms.

Thanks to technological advancements in treating venous disease, varicose veins, and spider veins can be corrected using minimally invasive outpatient procedures. Dr. Fried will recommend the best treatment option(s) based on your unique needs.

Treatments include:

• Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy is a direct injection of medicated microfoam into diseased veins, collapsing the vein and redirecting blood to nearby healthier veins.
• VenaSeal is a proprietary medical adhesive that closes off diseased veins.
• Varithena during this non-surgical procedure, microfoam is injected into affected veins. The vein collapses, and blood is redirected to healthier vessels nearby.
• Laser ablation and endovenous radiofrequency ablation are minimally-invasive procedures that use heat to treat affected veins.
