Robert J. Anderson, MD, RVT, RPVI, is known as “Dr. Bob” to the patients and staff of his Springfield, Massachusetts, Center for Vein Restoration (CVR) vein clinic. He joins K. Francis Lee, MD, FACS, RVT, RPVI, providing expert vein care to the greater Springfield area.

Dr. Anderson is an experienced vascular surgeon who is board certified by The American Board of Surgery (with added qualifications In General Vascular Surgery), a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

Dr. Anderson completed his medical degree at the University of Minnesota, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Alpha Omega Alpha is a national honor society for medical students that recognizes high educational achievement, supports the ideals of humanism, and promotes service to others—values Dr. Anderson adheres to, to this day.

We spoke to Dr. Anderson about his background, vein treatment skills and experience, why he chose vein care as his specialty, his approach to patient care, and why he has chosen to practice vein care at CVR specifically.

Why did you choose vein care as your specialty?

“I’m trained and board-certified in vascular surgery,” explains Dr. Anderson, adding that having experienced varicose vein disease himself sparked his interest in helping others overcome this painful, debilitating disease... Having (a surgical) background and having vein disease, it was a natural fit for me to go into the same area of treatment for patients with similar problems.” – Dr. Robert Anderson

Why did you choose to practice vein care at CVR specifically?

“Center for Vein Restoration offers advanced minimally invasive vein procedures to help patients with vein disease. And I found CVR to be a very honest medical practice with high integrity.”

What unique skills do you possess?

“The nice thing is that in addition to being board-certified in vascular surgery, I've also had a procedure to relieve varicose vein discomfort. I know what it's like to experience symptoms of varicose veins. In addition, I've been performing vein procedures for over twenty years and am very experienced.”

Describe your philosophy of patient care

“My philosophy is based on doing my very best for each patient and seeing them recover from their vein disease and return to a more normal lifestyle.”

In addition to having superior medical knowledge and technical skills, Dr. Anderson also possesses important soft skills crucial for helping patients overcome the discomfort and debilitation of varicose vein disease.

“I think I'm very approachable. I'm happy to answer questions from patients or referring physicians. If you have a question and need an answer, I'm happy to respond… even if the question doesn’t seem major… I like taking care of patients; that’s why I'm a doctor.”
