Meet Dr. Lee
K. Francis Lee, MD, FACS, RVT, RPVI, earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He continued postgraduate surgical training at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, and Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. He is the founder and medical director of Advanced Vein Care Center, now a part of Center for Vein Restoration.
As a leading authority on the diagnosis and treatment of vein disease, Dr. Lee is certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, is a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), and a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Because vascular ultrasound is critical to the success of most vein procedures, having a board-certified general surgeon who can personally perform vascular ultrasounds and interpret the results during vein treatment is a distinct advantage for Dr. Lee’s patients.
Dr. Lee is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is on the medical staff for Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, and Holyoke Medical Center, Holyoke. He has served on numerous national task forces and committees for the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has received multiple awards and grants, including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Fellowship, recognizing him for his mid-career professional achievements and leadership.
Services at Center for Vein Restoration, Springfield
Our board-certified general surgeon offers a wide range of innovative treatment options for leg pain, swelling, cramping, itching, varicose veins, spider veins, restless leg syndrome, ulcers, and other symptoms of vascular disease.
Vein procedures are performed as an outpatient in a comfortable office setting using only local anesthetics. Patients can quickly return to normal activities with few restrictions and little downtime.
Symptoms of vein problems
When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can signify vascular disease. Vein conditions include:
- Leg pain
- Varicose veins
- Spider veins
- Feelings of heaviness
- Skin discoloration
These symptoms are often the result of venous insufficiency and are unlikely to heal on their own. This common vein condition is progressive and will likely worsen without treatment.
Vein treatment options
Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.
At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a wide variety of other treatment options, including:
Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.
Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our outpatient vein treatments require only local anesthetics. Recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
