After more than a decade of dedicated service to patients in Springfield, Massachusetts, and surrounding communities, Robert J. Anderson, MD, RVT, RPVI, has retired from clinical practice at Center for Vein Restoration (CVR). Today, we honor his impact and introduce the exceptional and experienced vein physician who will care for his patients going forward.

A Physician Dedicated to His Craft and Community

What set Dr. Anderson apart wasn't just his clinical skill; it was his perspective. After experiencing symptomatic varicose veins himself and finding relief through minimally invasive treatment, he made venous medicine his calling. He knew firsthand what his patients were going through: discomfort, self-consciousness, and how vein disease can quietly limit daily life.

That understanding shaped every appointment, every conversation, and every care decision he made.

Patients trusted him not only because he was good at what he did, but because he genuinely cared. That combination is rare, and it leaves a lasting mark on a community.

We are deeply grateful for everything Dr. Anderson gave to this practice and to the people of Springfield. We wish him a retirement as fulfilling as the career he built.

Your Vein Care is in Excellent Hands

For patients who are continuing treatment or looking to schedule a visit, care at CVR’s Springfield vein clinic location continues without interruption with the same team, same insurance, same commitment to quality.

Stepping into the role of lead physician is Fernando F. Illescas, MD, CM, DABR, FRCP(C), a specialist whose training and experience span some of North America's most respected medical institutions.

"My specialty within the field of venous insufficiency is the treatment of patients who have poorly responded to previous surgical or ablative venous disease treatment. These patients have complex venous anatomy, often requiring advanced radiological studies. As an interventional radiologist, my analysis of the detailed information from these studies allows me to plan focused and individualized treatment for optimal results." — Dr. Fernando F. Illescas

Dr. Illescas’s particular area of expertise is caring for patients with complex or previously treated conditions and those who haven't found adequate relief elsewhere and need a more individualized approach.
