Real patients. Real workflow. Real reward.
A rotation at CVR isn't just hours on a timesheet. It's high-volume, specialty-focused training alongside RVT-certified sonographers — in an environment where your work is real, your preceptor is invested, and the path from intern to employee is shorter than you think.
What a CVR Rotation Looks
You'll work directly alongside a vascular physician, not just observe. And your preceptor holds the same RVT credential you're working toward, which means during clinical downtime, they'll work through board preparation content and practice exams with you directly.
Every new patient at CVR begins with a venous duplex ultrasound — the non-invasive exam that combines imaging and Doppler technology to map vein structure and blood flow. From that map, the treatment plan is built.
With 500,000 new patient interactions a year, students rotating at CVR aren't waiting for opportunities to perform this test; they’re performing it. Building the kind of scanning confidence and clinical instincts that will last a lifetime only comes from volume. Few rotations in vascular technology can offer that kind of repetition on a single foundational skill, and fewer still connect that skill so directly to a patient's outcome.
More than 25 million Americans have varicose veins. Up to 6 million have more advanced chronic venous insufficiency — and with over 11,400 Americans turning 65 every day, the number of patients who need this care is growing every year. The specialty you're training for has a real and sustainable future.

Students who perform well are strong candidates for vascular tech positions, PRN or full-time, at CVR vein clinics across the country. Most new grads spend months learning how a new job works. CVR interns already know.
Four days a week. No rotating shifts. No on call. A modern outpatient setting that respects your time.
As a CVR Pathways student, you're eligible to participate in VISION, CVR's premier annual clinical convention for venous and lymphatic medicine. You won't just attend. You'll be in the room with the physicians and innovators shaping the future of this specialty.
Attendance is FREE, and CVR students are eligible to earn up to 10 continuing education (CME) credits during VISION, whether you participate in-person or virtually.
VISION27 is scheduled to take place in Washington, DC, from January 15–17, 2027.
A placement site that works as hard as your program does.
CVR partners with sonography and vascular technology programs to provide structured clinical rotations in a high-volume outpatient specialty setting. Before any student arrives, we meet with your program coordinator to understand your curriculum requirements and competency objectives.
Every student works alongside an RVT-certified sonographer who has passed the boards and knows how to prepare students for them. During clinical downtime, preceptors review board preparation materials and practice exams with students. For programs rotating at CVR locations in North Carolina and Maryland, supplemental arterial exposure is available through our partner, Center for Vascular Medicine.
CVR clinics operate at high volume with standardized protocols across all locations. Students step into a structured clinical environment from day one — not one that shifts from site to site or day to day.
Even if your program focuses on general diagnostic sonography, a CVR rotation gives your students something most programs can't: concentrated, real-world exposure to one of the most in-demand specialties in the field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 13% growth in sonography jobs through 2034. For RVTs, demand is even higher. Your students won't just be entering a strong job market — they'll be entering the strongest corner of it.
High-performing students are strong candidates for CVR positions, including PRN or full-time roles, at 130 CVR vein clinics nationwide. For programs that track graduate employment outcomes, that's a direct line from your classroom to your graduates' careers.
Attendance is FREE for you and your students at this highly anticipated annual event for venous and lymphatic medicine professionals. CVR Pathways students are active participants in VISION and are eligible to earn up to 10 continuing medical education (CME) credits during the event, whether they attend in person or virtually.
For your students, this direct exposure to physicians and researchers is invaluable for advancing this specialty. Every session at VISION is designed to equip healthcare providers with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills they can apply in their practices. Whether learning about the latest minimally invasive treatments or exploring new diagnostic techniques, venous and lymphatic professionals attending VISION are better prepared to address their patients’ needs.
CVR will host VISION27 in Washington, D.C., from January 15–17, 2027.
