One of the area's most prominent and practical pieces is Bridge Columbia — a captivating pedestrian bridge that crosses Route 29. After its initial opening more than three decades ago, the bridge now provides travelers with lighting and increased security as they traverse from the eastern residential communities listed above. Its unique blue and green spiral geodesic tube was installed as part of a series of upgrades in 2018, replacing the former chain-link fence that previously enclosed it.

Sightseers looking for even more adventure often applaud the vast range of opportunities Lake Kittamaqundi offers for hiking, biking, and kayaking. Located in Town Center, the 27-acre man-made lake has a maximum depth of seven feet, making it the perfect place for both outdoor immersion and excursion. Afterward, nature enthusiasts love to make the one-of-a-kind venture to Nomanizan Island, which can be reached by boat toward the center of the lake. It’s a popular spot for festivals and all kinds of get-togethers during the summer — especially on the 4th of July.

Nature and art lean heavily on one another at the glistening and robust Merriweather Post Pavilion. Settled in 40 acres of pristine land inside Symphony Woods Park, less than seven miles from our Center for Vein Restoration clinic in Columbia, the vibrant outdoor venue gives guests a remarkable chance to bond with nature as they take in the soul-soothing sounds and sights of their favorite musical acts. The space was designed by Frank Gehry, whose other famous works include the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, and the IAC Headquarters in Manhattan.

Opened more than half a century ago, the pavilion’s original purpose was to be the home of the National Symphony Orchestra. It has undergone numerous sustainability-focused renovations, many of which were inspired by musician and environmentalist Jack Johnson. The Hawaii-born singer has even granted Columbia’s Merriweather Post Pavilion with the All At Once Sustainability Award — an award he established to recognize musical venues for excellence in waste reduction and eco-friendly improvement efforts.

Love to shop? Located next to the Merriweather Post Pavilion, visitors will find the Mall in Columbia, a bustling retail center showcasing some of the most popular stores and restaurants around. With a full-size movie theater, a children’s play area, and plenty of both year-round and seasonal events, the Mall in Columbia is a one-stop shop for a day of family fun.

Symptoms of vein problems

When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can be a sign of venous disease.

The result can be:

These symptoms are often the result of venous insufficiency and are unlikely to heal on their own. This common vein condition is progressive, meaning it will get worse without treatment.

Vein treatment options

Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.

Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.

At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a wide variety of other treatment options, including:

Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our in-office treatment requires only local anesthetics and recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
