Meet Ghazaleh Gigi Hafizi MD, FACOG

We recently spoke with Dr. Gigi Hafizi about her background, experience, patient care philosophy, and why she decided to apply her impressive skills in venous care with Center for Vein Restoration.

Tell us a little bit about your professional experience

My name is Dr. Gigi Hafizi, and I practice in Leesburg, Virginia.

I attended the University of California, Los Angeles, then went on to medical school at Howard University. I completed a four-year training in obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN). Following this, I practiced OB-GYN for over twenty years in Northern Virginia.

Why did you choose vein care as your specialty?

I chose vein care as my specialty because I was deeply interested in surgery and caring for patients with chronic diseases. I also enjoy doing vein care because I can see patients from different ages, backgrounds, and men and women. I enjoy fixing and stabilizing their care and seeing them in an ongoing fashion because it is a chronic disease.

Why did you choose to practice at CVR specifically?

I chose CVR to practice because I found that, number one, CVR has a large group of very well-qualified clinicians, and I also like the culture of the clinicians. I felt that it was a place where I could grow professionally and personally, and I found that the physicians and the entire team at CVR are very professional and where the patient is number one.

Can you describe your philosophy of patient care?

I feel that patient care involves, number one, listening to the patient. Number two, giving them adequate and kind care. And, number three, follow-through. I think it's really important to communicate with the patient and educate them so they know what to expect and what not to expect.

What unique skills do you possess?

Being an OB-GYN, I have a background in medicine and surgery. So, I think in that regard, I bring a unique set of skills. I'm not just a surgeon, and I'm not just an internist. Also, because of my background, I have excellent people skills, so I think I will bring that with me.

I'm able to communicate with patients well, and I'm able to show my compassion and care for them.

How do you see your role in helping your patients?

I see my role in helping my patients as a specialist. I see myself as someone who is taking care of patients who are referred to me by other clinicians. I find that it's important to educate my patients, number one. And, number two, I want them to leave the office knowing I've done something for them.

Even if it's not vein care related, I want patients to feel that they have received care to help them feel better. I am so thrilled to be at CVR and excited to take care of all the patients in Leesburg and Northern Virginia.
