Why Center for Vein Restoration Loves Ohio

Sitting on the shores of Lake Erie, Ohio, welcomes visitors to its many sights, including Maumee Bay State Park. The park’s many attractions include a golf course, marshes, and scenic meadows. North of Maumee State Park is the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse. More than a century old, the four-story brick lighthouse is one of seventy lighthouses along Lake Erie that helped ships navigate the channels.

Dr. Annilea Gunn, MD, CCFP, FCFP, ABFM, is a board-certified family medicine physician with advanced expertise in vein health and minimally invasive treatments for venous disorders. She brings a patient-centered approach to treating conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency, varicose and spider veins, leg swelling, restless legs, and pelvic congestion syndrome.

Dr. Gunn earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine in Winnipeg, Canada. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the St. Boniface Family Medicine Program and is a Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She holds board certifications from both the American Board of Family Medicine and the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

With extensive clinical experience, Dr. Gunn specializes in diagnosing and managing complex vein conditions including lipedema and lymphedema. She is highly trained in the latest minimally invasive vein procedures, prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and long-term outcomes.

Dr. Gunn is a member of professional organizations including the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Her commitment to preventive care and patient education ensures that individuals feel informed and supported every step of the way.

Deborah Cogan, MD, FACOG, FABVLM, is a vascular specialist with over twenty years of medical experience. She is double board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. She regularly ranks among the Best Doctors in the Chicagoland area.

Dr. Cogan earned her medical degree at the University of Iowa, Roy J., and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, Iowa. She completed her fellowship in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine at Midwest Vein Center, Downers Grove, Illinois, and her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology, at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Cogan spent the first eight years of her medical career practicing women’s health. During this time, she witnessed the connection between pregnancy and vascular disease and committed herself to helping people who suffer from the discomfort and disability of venous disorders in the lower extremities.

A devoted patient health advocate and educator, Dr. Cogan uses a “shared decision-making” model of care, working with her patients to make health care decisions.
