A native of Chicago, Dominic J. Tolitano, MD, is a nationally recognized cardiovascular surgeon who joined Center for Vein Restoration (CVR) specifically to provide vein care to patients suffering from venous insufficiency. Dr. Tolitano serves as Senior Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Franciscan Physicians Hospital and Senior Vascular Surgeon at Mercy Hospital in Munster, in addition to his duties as a vein doctor with CVR.
Dr. Tolitano earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center and a general surgery residency at Michael Reese Hospital. For his work as Chief Resident and Chief Fellow at both medical institutions, Dr. Tolitano was awarded certification in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine.
Dr. Tolitano is a specialist in phlebology (a specialist in specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of venous diseases). He uses minimally invasive outpatient therapies to treat varicose veins, spider veins, varicose veins, ulcers, deep vein thrombosis, and other vein problems. His patients rate him highly for his ability to communicate the symptoms and treatment options for venous insufficiency.
Dr. Tolitano was one of the first vascular surgeons to use advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat chronic venous disease. In practice for over three decades, he has performed thousands of vein procedures to treat chronic venous insufficiency.
“I have been in a fortunate position to watch this exciting field of medicine evolve over the past decade,” Dr. Tolitano says. “The Center for Vein Restoration is on the cutting edge of our field, and I am proud to have joined them.” – Dr. Dominic J. Tolitano
Our board-certified vascular surgeons offer a wide range of innovative treatment options for leg pain, swelling, cramping, itching, varicose veins, spider veins, restless leg syndrome, ulcers, and other symptoms of vascular disease.
When the tiny valves in your leg veins fail to circulate blood back to the heart, it can be a sign of venous disease.
The result can be:
Itching
Swelling
Varicose veins
Spider veins
Feelings of heaviness
These symptoms are often the result of venous insufficiency and are unlikely to heal on their own. This common vein condition is progressive and will worsen without treatment.
Vein care providers at vein treatment clinics use the most advanced minimally invasive treatments available today. CVR’s modern outpatient treatment plans are far superior to the older vein-stripping methods used in the past.
Treatments include VenaSeal, a proprietary medical adhesive that safely closes off varicose veins, and ClariVein, a two-in-one approach that uses an ablation device to inject a sclerosing agent that closes the vein with a tiny rotating wire tip, which destroys the diseased vein.
At Center for Vein Restoration, we offer a wide variety of other treatment options, including:
Vein treatments take approximately an hour or less to complete, and patients can return to their normal routine immediately with few restrictions. No staples or stitches are required because a simple band-aid covers the tiny incisions. Our outpatient vein treatments require only local anesthetics. Recovery and symptom relief are fast, and there is little to no scarring.
